Phase 0 · 2026 Q1–Q2
Founding
- Recruit 5–8 anchor institutions.
- Draft and legally review the Alliance Charter.
- Appoint an interim Board at HZAU.
Phase 1 · 2026 Q3–Q4
Launch
- Sign the Charter and MOUs with Founding Members at the Wuhan Founding Meeting (7–10 May 2026).
- Establish the Secretariat at HZAU-CHFS.
- Launch the IPGS digital platform and hold the inaugural meeting.
Phase 2 · 2027
Open membership
- Open calls for Full and Associate Members.
- Launch the first four Working Groups.
- Host the inaugural International Plant Grafting Symposium.
Phase 3 · 2027–28
Research programmes
- Submit the first joint grant applications.
- Activate the Doctoral Fellowship programme.
- Launch the Knowledge Commons and the first Annual State of Grafting Science.
Phase 4 · 2028–30
Consolidation
- Hold the second International Plant Grafting Symposium.
- Activate all seven Working Groups at full capacity.
- Launch the policy-engagement and advocacy programme.
Phase 5 · 2030+
Maturity
- Self-sustaining funding base.
- First cohort of IPGS-affiliated doctoral graduates.
- Established policy influence at FAO, CGIAR, and national levels.
